Hi,

I'm thinking about having a go at making some gel food for my goldies. I have read quite a few recipes and some add vitamins, I just wanted to ask if this is necessary and if so what sort of vitamins? Can you get goldfish vitamins from the lfs? I have never seen them. I'm in the uk so that might be the reason. If i can't get the vitamins would it be better to feed mainly prepared food and keep the gel food as a treat?

Thanks,

Rachel

Rachel,
I would think that if you are using a good food such as Progold or Hikari pellets in the gel food, adding vitamins may be over kill.
However I have just recently heard Koko say dog vitamins can be good for fish, but I don't know which ones or even how much.

Ok, i've been feeding the hikiri lionhead pellets so i'll put some of those in the gel food as well. I wanted to make a batch of gel food because i keep getting funny looks from my husband as i cook 2 peas or whatever for the fish for dinner smile.gif

Ok, so cooking a whole batch of goldfish food won't be any better but at least it won't be every night....

Hungry.gif rofl3.gif That is cute!!! My husband always asks me "if it is time to feed them a gourmat meal".
He can't talk though, he is the one to make the gel food. (i can't stand it, the tuna and stuff makes me ill).

rofl3.gif My husband also gives me funny looks when he finds me quietly absorbed in cooking a teaspoonful of peas or chopping up 3 prawns!
