Hi, I was wondering how to treat my betta for parasites. I just lost my last goldfish tonight so I am in shock because I lost my only two goldfish in one week and how I adored those guys. Sunshine was a timid little fella and Little Clown was always bold and he was Sunshine's best buddy. I buried them side by side, so that they will always be together as they were in my tank.

Well I need more information about this. There are many different parasites out there....I need to know what it looks like?
How the fish is acting?
What kind of set up hes in?
What other fish in there?
So on, it could also be just water condition and not a parasite, also might be a bacterial infection.....

My fish isn't acting strange but I just lost both of my goldfish that were in another tank that had plants from the same bunch in it becuase of parasites and I'm worried that since the plants came home in the same bag I might lose my betta too. My betta is in a two gallon tank with a filter and bubbler system and gravel. He is being fed tetramin for bettas and his water just got changed at half and half so as far as water goes his tested perfect but I need to buy a different type of testing kit soon.

Do you know what kind of parasite killed your goldfish?
I personally wouldn't treat the betta if he is not showing any signs of illness.

Okay, I won't treat him. I am getting new goldfish on the 15th of march for my 20 gallon tank after I have purified it and fishless cycled it.

Well, my betta just died today. He didn't show any sgns of stress for quite some time and then this morning he was darting around the tank and at two today he died. I am going to treat my tanks anyway. Man, this really has not been my week. I lost every fish this week and ouch does that ever hurt. I think I probably will be crying for a while about losing tiger. I feel bad that I didn't pay closer attention to him after losing my goldfish. Oh well, live and learn. Hopefully I'll do better next time.

I am sorry you lost your fish. It is hard to treat for disease when you don't know what it is that you are treating. Sometimes, a scatter shot approach can do more harm than good.
I would probably break your tanks down, and clean them with bleach, then rinse really well. In your final rinse you can add declor. You can throw out your filter material and run the bleach through the filters, as well. Then run clear water through your filters.
Sorry about your fish

Hi, wish me luck! I am about bouncing off the walls because a friend helped me by giving me some of his bacteria from his tanks for mine and he did that after I sterilized the tank so I am getting new fish today. I am going to get a new betta and two new goldfish.
