You guys said that goldifsh and guppies do not go together, but you were wrong becuase the only thing that i have to do is keep the heater set on about 75-77 degrees and guppies are eating goldifsh food mixed with tropical flakes.

theyre not suitable for each other, guppies need warmer water. but it doesnt mean they cant be grouped together. i just keep 70degrees on the gups[same as GF], and they do fine.

True they will live together but your goldfish will eat the Fry's to....Nice live fish food

Guppies also like higher salt content in there water than the goldfish...

My problem has always been that the goldfishes mouths get to be guppy sized to quick. such exspensive, colorful "snacks"

I hope Chui doesn't grow so big he can eat some six-buck decorative snacks. Apiece. <_<

Back to topic… dont hijack someones post.
Sure you CAN keep them together but its not going to work long term. Give it a few months and the guppies most likely arent going to be in optimal health. People can do all kinds of things but it doesnt mean its in the best interest of either fish species. Guppies are from South America. They like their water warm, slightly salted, and a neutral to acidic pH without much water movement. Goldfish are from cool, fast moving streams in Asia with a higher pH and much more water movement. They will grow big enough to EAT all the guppies eventually, and are such big eaters that they will outcompete the guppies for food every time.
Just some of the reasons why people recommend that you not mix tropicals and goldfish.

Actually I think they are only here in Mich and in upper Ohio. But watch for any grand opening of any chain stores that is usually you best bargins.
