I dont want to poison my fish I mean o.d them with too much aquasafe. I was using 16 drops per 2 gallon bucket when I started changing the water in my 30 gal. Now if I want to add the water to the trank I have to use 42 drops per 2 gals. I have amoinia in my tap water[makes me not want to even drink it!]And it was around .25 two weeks ago but today it isaround .50. I tested with adding the aquasafe more and more until I got the tap to 0 and it took 42 drops. is it safe to put so much aquasafe in the water? Or should I switch to another treatment? all other params are fine from the tap. Ahhhh . I was reading and some people said they used the ammount tof aquasafe to treat the whole tank each time they treated the tap water.so for me off the directions, if I were to do that I would need 240 drops every water change. That does seem a little excessive to me. Any Ideas out there???? unsure.gif

Well Barbie I'm a bit confused. First of all, the recommended dose of Aquasafe should be enough to de-toxify .5 ammonia.

Secondly, it doesn't matter how much water conditioner you add, it will not remove the ammonia, only de-toxify it, so even after using Aquasafe your test will still register ammonia - only it's not toxic to your fish.

Since this is a regular thing with your water I suggest contacting the manufacturer via the website (or phone) and get their expert advice. Good luck.

thanks, I dont know why I thought it worked on the amonia. I dont know why the readings went to 0 with 42 drops in the bucket.I am really confused as well. If I do have the amonia in the tap water is there anything to remove it? Or do all the treatments just detoxify it?If the reading is .50 or less then I should be okay, Because the water treatment detoxes it? It just stinks because up until a few months ago tap read 0 amonia, maybe I should contact the water company. Thanks again for the reply. smile.gif
