i am so excited i have doing lots of reading on the apple snail site. i want to get some colored brigs and bread pretty colors! i called my lfs and they said they would be happy to buy babies from me! so now i am going to start off with a ten gallon. just to put the ones i initiallly buy in. then i have an old 29 gallon in the garage that i'm gonna get out and test for leaks and reseal if nead be. then the 10 gal will bewcome the hatchery / nusery and the 29 will have my preeders and keepers in.

the fun thing is that i started this whole obsession with goldies, then snails and now my hubby is joining in. plus he thinks its pretty cool that we could make a little cash on the side while enjoying them. my 4 yr old has always shared my obsession with fish and its soooooo cool! i sit down and go through the photos on this site and on AS site and he sits on my lap andget all excited! he knows we're going to be settingup a snail tank and he's all excited! he wants "the really big one mommy" (canas) so i think i'll get a couple of those as well. i love that the whole family is getting into this hobby together!

Congrats!, Yes snails are becoming very addictive for me aswell lol.

Lucky! A 10 and a 29 gal! I had a clutch hatch today (WOOHOO! HAPPY DANCE!) so now I guess I'll just have to set up a growout tank for them.

Maybe when they grow a bit more (they're less than 12 hours old.. don't want to send them now) I could sell you some! I dunno what color they'll be.. their mother is either olive or burgundy, and their father is pretty much any of the males in the tank, including ivory, wild, jade, light striped purple, dark striped purple.. and I know I'm missing someone..

Agh, no. I tried but they are just too small and light-colored for my bad camera to pick up anything. I'm stealing from Mamaschild here...



They look like that, only smaller and less defined. They have spots.. they won't stay as they grow, but spotty snails are super-cute.
I tried using a microscope to see them closer but I couldn't get it to work. Never used it before.. and there wasn't a light on it or anything..
