For those of you that have fish with SBD, do you only feed them gel food? Or do you still vary their diet with flakes, freeze dried foods, veggies and fruits?

I have an oranda with SBD and I'm planning to make gel food this weekend. Right now, I'm fasting all my fish. I'm just wondering if I need to strictly feed her the gel food or if I should continue with a variety of foods, adding in the gel food.

Koko's receipe has all kinds of those foods added right to the gel food. That way they get the balenced diet all in the gel food.

Where do I find Koko's recipe? I don't remember seeing it in the pinned Gel Food thread.

It should be pinned at the top of the Food forum. Let me see if I can get it for you.
Hmmm I thought hers was up there, but I can't find it.
If you read the one that is pinned you can see there are many versions to it, pick one and try it. I think as long as it is varied from time to time, or has all the ingredients you would give them you should be good to go.

Thanks Laurie! I thought I was going crazy there for a minute since I couldn't find it. biggrin.gif

A good food to vary their diet with is Spirulina flakes, I often give it them in the afternoon. They love it and it is beneficial for goldies with SBD. I had one floaty fish who has been fine since I started feeding the spirulina.

I got a large bag from Goldfish Connection. smile.gif
