Full Version: Bloodworms And Daphnia

I bought some freeze dried bloodworms and daphnia to feed my fish. When I put each in the tank, I've noticed that they both float on the surface. I've already got an oranda that has SBD, so I'm trying to be very careful about not feeding floating food. Do I need to soak the bloodworms and daphnia before adding them to the tank? The daphnia is almost like a powder so I don't know how soaking would help it. Any suggestions?

get a feeder ring and presoak the food

Or you could make it into a gel food. That is a good idea especially for the "floaty" fish.

Laurie, thanks for the suggestion! I tried making it in gel food today, but I don't think I got it just right. I don't think I put enough gelatin in it so I'm going to have to play around with it a bit.
