Full Version: Goldfish And Sucking Loaches

im just wondering can these two get along.i went to a petshop and asked about an algea eater and they showed me some sucking loaches (gyrinocheilus aymonieri).......would these get along together???

any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated

i dont think they do get on with GF very well, when the grow bigger, they can get aggressive and try to eat the slim coat from GF (chase them and attach themselfs the the GF). i have watched this in an lfs before....

If it is the same loach as i have, i keep it in my topical tank, she seems to get on mone in there, leaves the other fish alone, but the other fish are much smaller than her. (she is about 4" now)

I have hill stream loaches in my GF tank to eat the algae, also called hong kong plecs.

If you can find a bristlenose pleco (ancistrus), I think they are just fabulous little algae eaters. They don't get any bigger than 4" and they really keep a tank clean biggrin.gif

I would stay away from the sucking loaches. I had them in the past and mine did become aggressive when he got large.

for people that dont know what they are. They are not good with goldfish.
