OMG, Kathy, that is so sad! After all the good care you provided for him!

I hope the other guys are okay, right?

Thanks Andrea...

the other 3 are not as active either but at least they come up to eat. After that they swim at the back of the tank and stay there. This is just so frustrating

I don't even know what caused him to die and if it isn't contagious.I really want the others to survive. Is there something I could do?treat the tank or something?I can't take another death

Kathy, it seems that the fry that died had an internal problem, possibly an infection. I don't know that treating the tank with anything would help, do you have any medicated food? that might help.

Thanks Annette
Unfortunately,I do not have any medicated food.It is so hard for me to get it since no LFS carry it

How are they doing right now?

Mar 7 2005, 02:58 AM
They still hang out at the back of the tank. They only come out when I put food in...but they're eating fine so I guess that's good.I still can't believe a perfectly healthy fry died within a week.I didn't even have a chance to name him

Koko has some medicated food. There is a new thread. I can't get any into Australia, I've tried twice and it's been confiscated by customs. I don't about Japan's regulations.

What new thread?I don't know if they will be confiscated or not but it's worth a try...what should I do?e-mail koko? Thanks Annette

Darn, I can't find the thread, even did a search, maybe it's pinned or something. Anyway, I found another recent post from Ranchugirl that advises to pm or email Koko - make sure you put "metromed" in the subject line.

Yep, that works! PM her with your name and addy, with metromed in the subject line like Annette suggested, that should do it.
Another thing I usually have handy, and very convenient for small fish like fry, is Pepco? Petso? food. It takes care of internal parasites, and is so small, its almost like dusty powder, tiny little crumbles. On a regular mainentance regimen, the company suggests to feed that once a week instead of their regular food.

Thanks Annette and Ranchugirl for helping me out.I really appreciate it
I'm gonna e-mail Koko later.

I know, I lost a fry Mini, he was perfectly healthy one day, the other day I found him dead... I've learned that fishkeeping is not easy, I worry every day that the fish should got sick. Especially Maxi, since he is my only fry. You'll never know what can happen. You can only do your best.
Good luck with your three fry!

Hows your young fishies doing today?

I think they are doing much better.A little more active than before

This is a pic I took last night before their dinner.

Oh, thats good news! I've read that fish get affected when one of them are sick or hurt. The sick fish sends out something that scares the others.

Mar 9 2005, 11:29 PM
Maybe that's true

They're all looking good now.I just hope it stays this way

So far,so good

they still hide at the back sometimes but I guess that's just their soft spot that does not have a lot of current

Great photo of them waiting for their tea. Hope they continue to do well.
As for them hiding in the back its probably to do with currents, my two fish used to always rest in the front right corner but since they are in the new tank with the new filter they always go to the back corner becasue the filter outlet points the other way. As the fry are small i would think they feel the current more. They look healthy anyway. Well done.
