poor dukey is having a few problems. hes seen his sould mate properly for the first time in a few months and ive never seen him so full of beans and impressive looking, even if his fins are a bit shorter than they should be. getting to the point, medusa is floating in his tank in a tub thing and all the signs are good to go apart from the fact that his nests, to be honset, suck. they dont stay there! ive seen a maximum of two bubbles in the cup contraption and they just pop after about 30 secs. now, thor makes bubble nests without fail every day but him and medusa dont exactly connect. i read on bettatalk.com that you can steal bubble nests from one males tank to another. has anyone tried this? did it work?

well, good old reliable thor made me a lovely big bubble nest this morning. i got a spoon and scooped it up and put it under dukes cup. he went over to it as if to say 'whats that!? never seen one of those in my life!' and started trying to eat it but he soon got the jist of it. i hope this works! duke and medusa make such a lovely couple, i dont want that wasted. come on kids! make me some babies!

Funny, I never heard of "stealing" a nest, but hey, if it does the trick! I just wonder if the nest will keep up its good appearance once the fry are in there - they move around quite a lot, and the male is supposed to repair the nest every now and then....Well, I guess you can steal Thor's new nest again in a few days!

nothing more than flaring happened. duke accepted the nest after trying to eat it a couple of times! i keep replacing the bubbles lost with my bubble making machine. not one day without building a nest! what a guy! i was going to try thor with his girlfriend again the other day but she hurled herself out of her house and died so thats the end of that. ill see if i can find her another girl this weekend.

Whew! Was he that bad!?
Im sorry, to hear about your fish, just under the circumstance i thought i'd shine some comical light on the fact. I wonder if thor knew whut his nests were being used for if hed be so inclined to produce more? lmao

Amy that sounds so interesting I do hope it happens for you.
Funny my Chicken always makes the biggest nests about a day before I change his water. The cleaner the water the longer he waits. I guess he likes a mess.

Do any of your bettas sulk if you destroy their bubble nests when you do water changes? Augustus used to throw himself round the bowl in a tantrum when I did his water changes and refuse to build another nest for several days afterwards. He was fine if I managed to clean his bowl without damaging his nest though, so it was definitely that which made him cross!

Wonton is in major sulks atm because I topped up his tank and destroyed his bubble nest. He too tends to leave it a few days between efforts.
I think it's cute, the only thing that bothers me is that there are loads of gooey bubbles all over the place

and they feel horrid to the touch

i think thor was starting to get a bit ticked off but yesterday, i went to check on duke an the most amaizing thing happened! he had built a nest larger than the size of a soft ball! i was stunned! so now i know he can do it if he puts his mind to it. i gave him the girl last night as a reward. nothing happened yet though. just a lot of flaring. fingers crossed though!
sorry, i just spotted something that really annoys me. on my first post i meant soul, not sould <_< i guess i had too many babychams!
