I use to feed my fish broccoli quite often. I would par cook a cluster in a bowl, covered with plastic wrap in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. This provides my fish their main intake of vitamin c (along with romaine lettuce and orange bits). Anyway, I began to notice that evertime I fed broccoli to them, the water would smell funky for a few days afterwards. I tried this an several different tanks with the same results.

Have any of you experienced this? blink.gif

I think I remember an old saying about asparagus and broccoli and such. Something about really bad smalling flatulence. Could this add a little credability to my hypothesis??? huh.gif

Oh yes! Their veggies are definitely favorites around here. I just loooove how they tear at it like little sharks! especially when its broccoli clusters. I really get a kick outta watching them have a go at it! biggrin.gif

I guess this can be a little fair warning for everyone that if fresh veggies are fed, to try to do it a day before your regularly scheduled waterchange. Otherwise, well ........ YUCK! ohmy.gif
