Im kinda curious. I noticed that there is a funny looking growth coming out of the Smokebreak, the brig pictured below

Is that a penis sheath or could that just be the anus?

I poked around a little bit on applesnail.net and could oly find drawings to illistrate what I'm asking. It sure looks like it to me though........

Nah, it's not the penis sheath. It stays way up against the inside of the shell above their heads. I kind of stole your picture and drew a circle around where you might see it if you looked inside his shell.

Here is a page with illustrations to show you how to sex him:

blink.gif I don't know Airwen...that circle you drew is darn close enough to me-to look like what Paul's talking about. The snail is angled in a way that if"extended out somewhat,it could be that. rolleyes.gif I still consider myself pretty new with snails thogh so I don't consider myself an expert. But I had snails mating and laying eggs,so I kind of think to me...it does look like the Penis. ignore.gif headscratch.gif

I think it's pretty close, but I think the thing that toothless is looking at is the anus. I could be wrong, but I do not think it's the penis actually. Plus, in all my snails the penis is white.

Well, I tied to look at each of my 4 snails out of the water and could only identify one so far. the small canna I have seems to be female. I will check the rest over the next few days. i'll post my results to each. Thanks! biggrin.gif

I was watching my apple snails one night and I noticed my smaller snail "Squirt" had a long blue thingy coming out from under his shell. I'm guessing that would be a penis huh.gif Are apple snail penis's blue? unsure.gif

It wasnt his siphon becuase that is on the other side of him and his siphon isnt blue
Selena
