What types of snails are comatible with goldfish?

Umm..

It really depends on the goldfish. Some goldfish are placid towards snails, and some are seriously evil and pick at them, sometimes chewing off tentacles and stuff like that.

Other than that... usually the ones that are big enough NOT to fit in the fish's mouth. That means no small babies of any species. And unless you have one giant goldfish, most species should be fine.. I guess.

Airwen is right. If you to buy a snail I would buy a snail that was a bit big so your GF cant eat them.

What if you have baby snails? Can they be eaten by common goldfish?

It just depends on their size, mostly. If they're really small they can be eaten whole, which obviously isn't beneficial to either party, and it sounds like mylittlefishy's snails were probably picked out of their shells. Goldfish can be brutal. Mine killed my old adult blue snail and is the most likely cause of mantle collapse for my gold.

Eventhough a GF may find it difficult to eat a large snail, they would probably stress it or damage the snail in some way. You would need to put them in with very gentle GF. I kept apple snails with my ranchus and bubble eyes for awhile and they were fine together, but I know if I put the snails in with my pearscales they would have no hope smile.gif
