I am sittin here lookin at my fish and wondering if there is possibly anychance I can cross breed them. I am very particular about what kind of fish I have, and i like keepin a variety. I live in Texas and it stays relatively warm out here. But, We are having a rather cold winter this year so Ia m gonna try to breed them then. But first, I needed to see if this is possible.
I have a fantail, a common gold fish, a butterfly Koi and an Ogon Platinum Koi. Is it even possible to try this. I know for Sure the Common Goldfish and the Fantail are of age, but I am not quite sure about the other 2. Any help would be welcome. Thank you for taking the time to check this out. If you would like to email me instead of postin your answers up here, my email is armywf@hotmail.com. Thanks and God Bless. Much Luck to all ya'll with fish!

Hi and welcome! I don't know about cross-breeding four different fish at the same time, but any two fish can breed with each other because all goldfish are the same species. So all your goldfish can breed to produce two sets of fry, and then two fry from that set could breed, and that's the only way i think you can crossbreed four species. I hope I've been of some help. Good luck!

Thank you so much. I think I wrote that where people would be confused. I meant could you breed two different kinds together. I think I put that down as four at the same time. Oops. Thanks! By the way, If a female in a different tank lays eggs, and there is no male to fertilize it, can I take some sperm from a male that ejact. in a different tank and put it on them?

Are the other two fish koi? If so, then there may be no way. Koi and goldfish are different species.
Fantail
O, forgot, i read in a goldfish care book, the plants that the eggs are attached to are then put in a shallow tank, or container. Then get the male and you can put pressure on its body squeeze it and then it will fertilize the eggs. I don't know the details, forgot.

Yes, the other two are indeed Koi. A Butterfly and a Ogon Platinum. But, all my fish are relatively the same size (if that matters).

Be very careful with hand spawning your fish, If you push a little to hard, you could rupture their insides and kill them. Its not so much pressure as stroking the length of their underbelly. I wouldnt risk my fishes lives in doing it though. If you want to breed them, just put them in the tank together.
