Black Moorio
I just had an idea, I want to make my own goldfish food, cus I think that my fish are getting tired of the whole 'flake' thing. These are my ideas:

~Dried Lettuce Pieces
~Drie Pea Pieces
~Dried Egg Yoke
~Crushed Tubifix Worm Cubes
~Dried Carrots

Any more ideas? huh.gif

I'm all ears for suggestions, additions, and take awayings(?) :listen:

Hi Black Moorio! That's a great idea to have a variety of different foods in your goldies diet! The only thing that I would suggest though is to not feed them dried food of any kind. Always make sure that you soak the food, if it is dried, in tank water. Soaking the food helps prevent swim bladder disease and constipation. Good luck!

thanks! So like have in in a damp container?

anyone else care to comment?

Hi Black Moorio!
One important thing: DO NOT keep the food in a damp container! This encourages mold which is poison to fish! ohmy.gif A varied diet is important, though, and your idea is a good one. lol.GIF By "soaking," we mean just put them in a container of water and let them soak for one minute directly before feeding the fish. Good luck! B)

thanks!

And so this is my list:

~Dried Egg Yoke
~Lettuce
~Carrot
~Peas
~Zucchini
~Cucumber
~Tubiflex Worm Cubes

Is there anything wrong with that?

Looks good to me, but I'm no expert. You might want to boil the peas, though. Hope I've helped some. smile.gif

you have! biggrin.gif

Your list is good, how about adding some fresh food too? Frozen salad shrimp is really good, and also boiled egg whites. High in protein, and the fish go nuts for them! And be sure to add spinach, dried or fresh. thumbsup.gif

When you feed dried food, make sure you soak it first.

your list looks great..but i'd encourage you to try something other than the tubifex worms for the daily diet and save those for the occasional snack. i say this because they're really nothing more than fat, and the freeze-dried version has virtually no nutritional content what-so-ever. while there's nothing wrong with feeding them, there are healthier alternatives out there..like blood worms and brine shrimp

Did any one mention, soak the food in Aquarium Water or other de-clorinated water, not tap?
