i tried to get a photo but i can't get one that clearly shows it. this is on duckie, my black moor. it's on his right side. one the tail near the body. is it just one bright white spot. he is acting fine. does not appear ill in any way. no one does. and there are no other spots. also nothing new in the tank. sooooo. does anyone have an actual photo of this breeding star thing? one that's clear and cloe up? i can't tell from the few i've seen on this site if that's what it is. i don't know if i now know he is a male or if i should be worried he is sick. krazy.gif

thanks!

Is the white spot(s) on his gill plates and first fin rays of the pectoral fin(arm fin), if it's not on there then i'll be worried about him.

If it has icks try salting the tank to a 0.3% solution by adding 1 tablespoon of Aquarium Salt to each gallons of water.

Generally, breeding stars are not in the back of the fish, they are mostly on the gill plate and the first few rays of the pectoral fins, which are the smaller ones closest to the head.
Lets see if I can find a picture of breeding stars....smile.gif

Since its most likely not connected to breeding, I will put your thread into the disease section for further help...smile.gif
