ok , so this is not really rrelated to what is compatable with goldfish, but had to tell all of you what I seen. today I was at the mall, when I walked by the display case of my local pet store, the display case was decked out into ths huge terrarium/vivrarium, there were 2 water sections , one was a tote with water kept near the back as a more cooler are for the critters to swim in if they wished, the second was a 15-17 gallon long tank kept against the front window of the display tank. in the tank there were 2 large 7"long newts, a bunch of common guppies, some rosy red minnows, a large rams horn snail, three baby turtles that were about the size of a loonie, a small to medium sized cray fish, the shell of a golden apple snail, some cobomba that wasnt doing so good because of improper lighting. as I was lookiung in the tank I aalso seen a huge brownish red claw that was a attached to a huge crayfish. now can any one tell me what is wrong with this setup? oh , and the tank was lit with a incondescent bulb.
the incondescent is no good because of improper lighting for both the flora and fauna in this setup, incodesents and newts dont mix cause to much heat for the newts, all newts have some sort of toxin(some toxins are higer in some then others) givin of by there skin that builds up in the water , so a lager body of water is needed to coponsate and reduce the risk of toxins to the other animals, baby turtle will get huge if they live that long, if they dont surcome to the toxins in the water or eat the newts, or get snaped by the cray fish , and the giant cray fish, well it has a nice size buffet, need I say more.
anyways thanks for letting me blow off some steam.
