K, setting up the 125 has been complete22. Between missing filter parts, a broken glass lid, needing new lid hinges, handles, etc, Jon and I finally filled the sucker up tonight and got the magnum 350's on there. Guess what....?? They're crap. We can't get em to work right, so I've given up hope that they even work considering the state of the rest of the equipment. So.... my question is... would it be ok to run 3 Emperor 400's on that tank and have that be it for filtration? I've never seen a huge tank like this without a canister. <_<

sad.gif Hey....Wait a minute....Aren't you the one that WASN'T setting up that new tank????? rofl3.gif Well,How long did that thought last,an Hour???????????? hahahahaha...No seriously,I would have done the same thing myself. It really sucks that nothings working right, but when you get good prices I guess you can't expect everything, right? sad.gif I know it's not ideal, but hey, those Emperor's work pretty darn good,ya know? I mean ten times filtration is at least 1250-you'll be at 1200---it's not that much difference. It's not always that easy to go and drop a couple 300 Bucks at the drop of a hat.I know I can't afford to do that in my position right now. rolleyes.gif

A cannister has a couple of things going for it. First - it can be hidden under a stand. That is no big deal. Second - most cannisters are workhorses for the biological filtration. Some do a fair job in a mechanical area, but Emperor 400's are real workhorses in both fields - mechanical and biological.

So - go with the Emperors. If your fish load is full or heavy, you may want to add another smaller filter onto that to goose the gph, but start with the 1200 and see where it takes you. Fill those baskets and pump the biological base. It should be fine. Emperors are easy to clean, too! smile.gif

Heh, Marineland. I had to enlarge the impeller housing with a drill on my eclipse to get it to work.

edit: Buy a cannister. A different brand if it pleases you. Eheims, Filstars or Fluvals.

Well, I happen to like the Emporors, I have 2 of em already. I also have an Eheim canister, but I'll be running that on my 75. I ordered the Emperor last night, so it sould be here Thursday I'll guess. Thanks for the input all, I appreciate it!! biggrin.gif
