This scared the crap out of me...

I woke up this morning and turned my tank light, like always and threw some food in for my cichlid and lobster, and i looked and my lobster was laying on his back outside of his little cave thing he always hangs out in. I nudged him a little bit and he still didnt move, so i was all sad and convinced myself that he was dead. So i checked my ammonia and nitrite levels and they were fine and i couldnt figure out why he would have died b/c id only had him for a month and a half. So i started to do a water change mainly just to suck up all the crap on the floor and i stuck the tube in his little cave thing to clean it out and another freakin lobster swims out! Then i was all freaked out and wasnt thinking logically so i called my cousin erika and we were both trying to figure out what was going on... because i only had one lobster. So we started thinking that maybe when she laid eggs a month ago one of them might have some how gotten fertilized and miraculously hatched and grew to the same size as the other one.. and then killed and started eating it. Then i looked at the dead lobster a little closer because the live one broke it in half and the inside was hallow..... he molted. I knew they molted and i was expecting it.. but the shell had antenas and all the white feathery looking things under the tail and all the little legs and everything, i was thinking that it would be kind of translucent and flakey looking.

So i left his shell in there because i guess they eat it and get a lot of nutrients from it, im sure you all knew that though. But i just thought you guys might get a kick out of this story. Im just glad hes more alive than ever.

oh.. wow. thats amazing. i NEVER knew lobsters molt! hehehehe, this is awesome. im glad youre buddy is fine!

Wow. That sounds scary! What kind of lobster is he? How big is he? Lobsters fascinate me; someday I'm going to rescue a live one from the store and keep it in a bathtub.

dont run too hot of water and boil him like Pinchy from the Simpsons. When i bought him, i think they said it was a Red Crimson Lobster... but i dont know because ive been google searching and i cant find anything about Red Crimson Lobsters.. she's about 8 inches when streched out.

my lobster shed twice while i had him and he got really big.

Hes not difficult to take care of at all... the only trouble is making sure he gets enough food because my friggin cichlid is a hog. But i usually just throw a bunch of pellets in front of his cave so he can get to them before Hitler eats it all.

The lobster is entertaining, i fed him an earthworm the other day and it was like he knew there was a worm in there as soon as it hit the water, he shot out like a rocket and tore that worm up. Hitler tried to take it from him and Belvedere stuck one of his pinchers out and was like "BACK OFF!"
