i was trying to breed my bettas yesterday and they seemed fine. this morning i wake up and my female is still swimming about in the tank with the male like her normal self but her eye was quite badly damaged. it was almost like fugus on it but i think it was just the flesh over the eye that had come off. it doesnt look like the eye isnt working and i think shes gonna be ok with it but other than adding melafix, is there anything else i can do? i dont think they finished breeding or even started spawning yet. when should i put her back in? shes still desperate to get out and have babies!
thanks smile.gif

I can't advise you about the breeding of bettas, but about the wound, I would just keep a very close eye on it and keep the water pristine. It will heal on its own. If you use melafix, use a lower dose than recommended on the bottle. The dosage would be 10 drops per gallon of water.

Good luck and keep us posted biggrin.gif

well, already today her eye looks much better and her fins are already repeairing to the point that some have knitting together almost completely! she still swims about like normal and has the same huge appitite so i think she should be ok! biggrin.gif thanks for the help
