Do you think it would be a good idea to buy a fish tank on ebay? Just asking cuz i've heard crud about stuff breaking in shipping and no money being refunded.
Also, what type of filter do you recomend for a g-fish that poops 50grams of poop a day?

I have never thought of buying a tank from ebay so I don't know. I would not buy it though if they didn't guarentee it.
For your other quesiton. You want a filter that filters 10 times the amount of water per hour. So if you get a 20 gal tank it should do at least 200 gal an hour.

I thought about doing that also, but then decided against it because of shipping pricies and because i thought it was too risky to ship a tank and didn't want to risk it. Plus i fell in love with a 50 gallon cherry-wood tank i found in town.
Good luck if you do decide to buy on e-bay.
P.S most of the tanks i liked on e-bay were only availabe for local pick-up anyway.

Ebay is probably safe if the vendor has a good track record. More concerning is shipping. Delivering a large, fragile object is going to up the price considerably. I would strongly recommend looking around for one locally first. I mean, I can find a 10 gallon tank for less than $20 CDN easily, often less than $10 too. Some bowls are more expensive than tanks.

A friend of mine bought a nice tank+wood cabinet combo on ebay but it is second hand and she has to drive an hour to pick it up. At least you don't pay if it is not what you expect and you know that it is going to arrive in one piece (unless you drop it!).

If are looking into buying a tank online, try Aquabid.com. Its an auction side like ebay, just strictly aquatic. Most of those tanks are "pick up only", but I have seen a few that I could have easily picked up close to me....
