OK so in my continuing sage the fin rot is back with a vengence in Bubbas tank (Pancake is doing tremendously well , Pat is OK but I think something else is going on with him - his fins are healing but he's getting these wierd growths on him & Shim is great)

I think I'm going to do an iodine dip with Bubba tomorrow (my day off of work). I'm really scared about it but I have to say that in the end, pancake looks great (in the middle he looked half dead & I thought I killed him after I put the iodine on his fins & they split terribly). I'm at my wit's end - I'm doing water changes every 3 days with a vac & the rot just keeps appearing. (When I do them every day the fins just blow out instead of rot away) What IS THIS??? blink.gif You should see his fins - all the progress I made in the last few months - totally down the tubes - they're shearing right off!!!!!!!

Aaaack!!! I prepared my daughter (he may not live through this) but I don't know what else to do. He's had every med I can lay my hands on & eventually he always comes down with the rot again( as an aside - I was in the store where I got him last May & 99% of those bettas had the same rot & looked more than half dead. It was tremendously sad.)

He looks happy(even though he looks like cr#p) so this bothers me so much. I know that I stand a real chance of loosing him but I really don't know what else to do - this rot is very quickly taking over!!!!!

Please think of me Wed..... I'll let you know how it goes!

Oh no, not again! I'm so sorry, Jenn. My prayers are with you and Bubba. Good luck with the iodine.

Thanks!

I did the Q tip thing & have the maracyns in there (again...sigh) his fin looks brown & is shriveling up but I expected that at this point anyway. Hopefully the rest of the rotted stuff will fall off (I always try to sort of pull it off but these fins are so delicate I don't want to rub too hard - plus I don't think I'd like it too much if someone did that to my injuries!)

Anyway - he's eating now & acting normally (a bit ticked at me - he really flares now when he sees me) so now I wait & see.

Sigh....

Good luck, Jenn. I hope Bubba heals. Please keep us posted.

OK soooo right now his fin is mostly fused together so it looks really really strange! On the other hand the shredding seems to have halted for the moment so....

Good News (I think)

OK so as of today most of the rot has fallen off. I haven't seen any signs of new growth yet (but I'm not yet worried about that)

Most of the edges are looking fairly clean so....

I think it's still good news!
