ack! i went to feed my bettas this morning and i noted my red-ish male betta was swimming funny and had something on his fins. well,i looked closer and i think it's fin rot. ignore.gif

current tank stats:

size - 10 gallon
# of fish - 2 male betta,2 female betta (divided)
filter - yes (whisper power filter)

included is a picture i managed to get of his fins. he also has some fuzzy brown stuff by his gills. but that could pherhaps be old food or something that got there. (hey,it happens..) anyways, just wanted to make sure this is fin rot before i start treating him exactly.gif

So has he lost colour in his tail? I did look at the pic, but my eyesight is quite poor- from what I can see his fins are red, but the ends are sort of colourless with a black edge?

It certainly looks like other pictures of finrot that I've seen.

Having said that though it might not be too bad. My betta came down with bad finrot in the same place whilst I was treating him for ich. I was doing water changes every day, and gave him a salt bath, and it looks to be clearing up nicely.

on the edge of his tail it's light brown-ish. the rest of his fins have color.
