blink.gif My fish has been ill and she is better it has been four days since meds and she swims for five to ten minutes and then sits on bottom for one to two minutes not breathing heavy. Sometimes swims longer She eats and swims and looks like shes floating normal I`m just waitng for her to float all the time . I really want to know if fish sit on bottom when they are healthy???

Heather fish that sit on the bottom are not healthy, they are sick. Something is going on, so I am going to move your thread to the disease/diag section.
If you could answer all of the questions at the top of that page we can help you figure out what is wrong and fix it.

Laurie, this is actually a follow-up thread to a previous post.

I guess Heather posted this one as she didn't any replies other than myself.

When my fish start sitting, it's usually an early indication of something nasty sad.gif But this is the time to start tackling whatever is bothering it (water quality issues, parasites etc) - fish usually make it if you treat it as this stage.

Do you have test kits to tell us what the water parameters are? Also try and tell us as much information asked in the red box above. E.g. look at the fish closely and describe anything abnormal? Are its dorsal/top fins clamped?

sad.gif Hi Kat my fish has a long story but yes I test the water morning and night the water PH is 7.0. She is in a ten gallon tank no other fish. She was in the wrong tank when we got her and she was ill then we purchased a new ten gallon tank with outside filter ,heater ,and then treated her with tetracycline she was sitting on bottom then developed a white spot on top fin then it went away the first treatment. Then changed water and still no floating but swimming till tired also a small amount of clear whitish mucus on fin . So we started another treatment of tetracycline and and purifix the next couple of days . Then changed water let her sit at a low level for three hours then filled tank she was floating and swimming for five days then started to sit on bottom so I started another treatment of tetracycline ,no filter ,covered and with coppersafe. After this changed the water then she layed eggs. We have had her since Oct 2004 she eats every day and has even grown but has been ill the whole time. I just started to write on this board someone suggested changing the water every day so I have changed it three times since laying of eggs. They said that the ammonia level raised when giving tetra treatment .The water is well water filtered alot and is 7.0PH low iron if any smell or look of it in the water. No water softeners or anything added to the water. No plants ,rocks are all natural . We feed her sinking food she acts like shes blind and takes her alittle bit to find the food. She is a lions head. I had to move all rocks off bottom in corner to help her see the food. I want to put plants in but was waiting for her to get better. I am completly going crazy I really want to help the fishy this time she is all clear of mucus no spots I put coppersafe in when changing water. This is the hundred dollar gold fish for real.

Heather have you tested for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates? If so please post those #s. If you haven't I would do so, it is important.
Do you know if your tank is cycled?

The PH seems fine, but I am concerned about the rest of the paramaters of the tank. Water quality can make fishes very sick.
