Full Version: Which Filtration?
Should I get an eclipse hood for a 29 or go with an emperor? if an emperor, which one?
I have an Eclipse hood for one tank, and, where it works OK, it has required several rebuilds over the past few years, has great difficulty getting started again after it is stopped and has difficulty in plugging up.
An Eclipse is also totally dependant on the biowheels to hold the cycle. It has no other space for extra media. I have stuffed bags of media on top of my cartridges in the Eclipse to address this, but it is a "make-do" kind of thing.
I think you really cannot beat the Emperors. They have great space for media, a biowheel and mine have never failed or needed work. Until just this week, mine have been exceedingly quiet. ( I have to figure out what I put together wrong, this time, I think!

I will get the Emperor 400 since you tank is about 30 gal. you will have more than enouph filtertration! Here is a rule of thumb mulitply your tank gal by ten for example 29*10=290
