I got a cute wee fantail around two weeks ago and put him in my empty 8 gal tank. Have been testing for nitrites and nitrates every day. The nitrites showed up after a couple of days and nitrates appeared later. Now the tests are clear for both nitrites and nitrates but hte tanks only been up a couple of weeks!

Does this mean its cycled?

I'm wondering, cause my large tropical tank took months to cycle, though I was doing a fishless cycle and messed it up a bit by adding too much ammonia.

Anyway, 2 weeks seems a bit soon. I thought they took about a month to cycle ?

If it were cycled you're see both ammonia and nitrIte at 0ppm and nitrAtes rising.

Are you checking ammonia levels?
