is "easy balance" a good product?
it's supposed to reduce water changes and keep same water for a long time but i do water changes every 3-4 days (cycling) and i add easy balance to my new water everytime...

i think its good for pH...

is that ok?

I, personally, don't know how any product can reduce water changes. If there were something out there that could reduce nitrates, I would think that EVERY fish aquarist would use. I'm VERY skeptical.

That being said, I have never used the product.

I don't see why you shouldn't use it... but I would continue to do water changes (particularly during cycling) nonetheless.

Have you read their website on it? Mostly sounds like snake oil to me.

TetraAqua EasyBalance

Long-term care for biologically healthy water - for up to six months. Reduces the number of water changes required.

>> the reliable stabilisation of pH and carbonate hardness values minimises chemical changes of the water quality, preventing sudden dangerous drops in acidity that can endanger fish
>> reduces phosphate and now also nitrate in a purely biological manner, thus preventing excessive algae growth
>> the visible nitrate-eliminating granules contained in the product spread throughout the aquarium and sink rapidly to the bottom, where their action comes into effect
>> adds valuable vitamins, trace elements and minerals
>> when used as directed and under good care conditions the aquarium water can be kept biologically stable for up to six months
>> reduces the number of water changes required
>> fish and plants feel better
>> for all freshwater aquaria

I use EasyBalance. But I only use it to regulate the ph. They claim that it reduces nitrates but I've not found that to be true. My nitrates lately stay around 40. It also leaves some small white granules on the bottom of the tank. I don't really like that. I can't imagine using it to reduce water changes either. But as far as ph is concerned it has done a good job.

Yes. Easy balance does a good job of controlliing ph swings. In fact it lowers your ph a bit. I am quite satisfies with it.
