I have had one of these for years now. I got him about 10 years ago from a friend, who didn't want her fish anymore. She had him for about 5 years prior to that ... so they are long-lived.

I have kept him with tropical fish, then when I switched the tank over to goldfish, he stayed with the tank. He has remained a herbivore, although he will eat left over goldfish food (as if there is any most of the time lol), but his favourite it blanched zucchini. He definitely needs driftwood to rasp on. I see the marks of his rasping on the wood I have in the tank. He has remained peaceful, and he never goes near the goldfish, or pays any attention to them. Compared to the bristlenoses, he is more shy, although I do see him come out now and then. He has remained small, about 3 1/2" approx.

He currently shares his tank with three goldfish, three hillstream loaches, and a few ramshorn snails.

Hope this helps, and please feel free to ask any questions biggrin.gif

Although I am not too fond of plecos, this one looks actually beautiful, with the touch of red/rusty color on him! heartpump.gif
