Well, I got another apple snail but am finding out that it might be a ramshorn? I am not sure though. He's flatter than Riddley, much smaller too. His swirls are all in one plane whereas Riddley's are more like the typical apple/golden snail. Riddley is about 3 1/2 inches in diameter and the new guy, St. Louis is about an inch. He looks very similar to the snail on this page http://www.applesnail.net/content/marisa.htm
but is a different color and has a blackish body/foot. I am wondering...will he get as big as Riddley or will he stay small? Riddley doesn't seem to notice St. Louis yet but when he does notice him, he wouldn't hurt him since he's so much bigger would he??

Thanks so much for your help. I'm so glad the site is back up and running! smile.gif

It sounds like a ramshorn snail. Are you able to take a pic?

Yes, I can take a picture of him but how do I get it posted?

Sounds like a ramshorn (marisa, like the link you had. They can come in different colors). They rarely get bigger than 2". Does he have a very dark foot? Just recently Donya got a picture of her very black bodied Marisa, look for it under Members Photos on the applesnail.net boards.

I will look into that photo place; sounds pretty easy. smile.gif

Louie, the new snail, does have a very black foot!! I love that. Riddley, the other snail in the tank, is all golden, which I also love. smile.gif

I am going to work on getting some good pictures and posting them for you all to see.

I am suprised to hear that these snails stay so small! smile.gif He will be Ok with the big guy right??? riddley is about 3 1/2 inches now and I've heard from other members that he still has some growing to do. He won't hurt the little snail will he? So far, he's done well. He slithered right over to Louie and went right past him headed for food! smile.gif
