Ok, on my birthday I get my sister a present (and on her birthday I get a present from her!)
my birthday is coming up, so I thought I might get my sis a betta or something. She wanted an oranda but I dont have the room. I have a betta bowl, so im gonna get her a betta. I need to know what type of filter I can use, it is about one and a half gallons, I also need to know an alternative way of heating it.
Thanks

Hey pearscale, you do not need a filter for a small bowl nor do you need a heater! You have to clean the bowl every three days but because your have a 1.5 gallon bowl you can clean the water every week. For heating, place it in a very hot place in the house. Maybe in room where its room temperature is 23 C or up. I hope your sister likes the betta. Rememeber do not clean the water too much because it may cause finrot.

I wouldn't heat that small of a space either but make sure to clean it enough or you will get finrot (just IMHO). If you really want to you can get on of those small filters - they look like a cartridge & are run by an airpump. I have one on a small tank 'cause I like to have some filtration on all of my tanks.

I know some people don't use a filter but then you have to change out all of the water a couple of times per week & at least for my bettas - that would be too stressful.

Good Luck with whatever you decide!!!
