I was cleaning my snail tank today and noticed and clear jelly blob on the side of the tank. It's far more raised then a Ramshorn blob. I didnt touch it as it looked a bit gross so I left it. I only have one trumpet snail so I didnt think anything at first, but then I remember Hamstaman saying that they dont need a male and female to reproduce ohmy.gif

So I looked up some info on applesnail.net and found this on trumpet snails:

'The transparant eggs are deposited in a firm, gelatinous clutch on plants, stones or other objects. These snails are hermaphroditic and two snails are enough to get large numbers of them in relatively short time'

yikes.gif Oh no........this might sound mean, but I hope Hubba, Bubba, Judas & Squirt (my apple snails) eat the eggs. I cant handle another infestation sad.gif

I thought trumpet snails were livebearers? unsure.gif

Hmmmmm, that's what Hamstaman said. Hopefully Hamstaman will come along soon and help us out on this one. Maybe they make a blob with live babies in there, but the babies stay in there for a little bit. I'm just guessing this though. I dont know much about Trumpet snails. If this clear jelly blob doesnt belong to the Trumpet snail where did it come from? headscratch.gif It doesnt look like aplle snail eggs and it does look like ramshorn eggs. I dont think there are any other snails in my tank. I'ts only a 20 ltr and I siphon it and do a 30% water change 3 times week (my apple snails poo alot), so I would notice if anthing else was in there....... idont.gif

Can you post a pic of the eggs? I dont know much about snails, espeically trumpet snails but my ramshorns have laid eggs about 5 times in the last month and a half. So I really know what those eggs look like lol.GIF

I was going to that that but I dont think it will show up very well. The eggs look like a clear jelly. When I get home from work tonight I will try and get a pic and post it smile.gif

Trumpet Snails are livebearers its probably from your other snails
Selena
The jelly things are definatley from my trumpet snail. It laid a couple more jelly sacs so I removed them. Maybe what I have isnt a trumpet snail if trumpet snails dont lay eggs (????)

You probably don't have a trumpet snail. I have a lot of trumpet snails and they are livebearers. Maybe you could show us a pic of this trumpet snail?
Black oranda
I find it sounds like a brown pest snail.... or maby somekind of freshwater
pond snail?
Myaj
Trumpets are definately livebearers...

Is it shaped like a football? (american football wink.gif) If so its probably a pond snail.

Yup. Most likely your other snails won't eat them unless they're dead, but I personally have had no experience with this so I'm not totally sure. Can you fish them out with a net or anything?
