Well, actually my mom just got it for me. We had went to our LFS the other day and they had them and I have always wanted a frog, it didn't matter to me what kind. When I saw them I showed them to my mom and told her about how I would like one but I knew I didn't have anywhere to put him so I didn't get him. Well, last night she had to get something else and decided to get me one, I know she was trying to be nice but now I don't know what to do with it.

I have 3 commons and 2 snails in an already overcrowded tank. The snails have laid eggs 5 times now and the fish decided to lay eggs last week. So all my other tanks are occupied at the moment. So I have him in a 1 gal bowl until I can free a tank for him. I was thinking about putting him in my 2.5 gal and getting a betta, is that a good idea? Also what do they eat? All I pretty much have is goldfish food, and when I give them treats its with fresh things. I have 2 turtles though and last night I gave the ADF a piece of that. Is that good until I can get whatever it is they really eat?

Thanks in advance for helping smile.gif

Oh yeah and while I had the bag he was in floating in my GF tank the fish were already trying to eat him so me putting him in there was totally out of the question.

biggrin.gif Hi Definately don't put him with your goldies--he will be a snack for sure. Your very best bet would be to put him in your 2.5 gal. buy him a buddy-and/or maybe a snail, and leave it at that. I've had bettas with adf's before, but it's really hard to keep everyone safe from each other.(Frogs don't see well-bite on betta's tail---bettas aren't thrilled to share their tank most of the time anyway) They can be fed blood worms if you feed your goldies those-They'll also eat tubiflex. They're also tropical, and they really need to have tropical temps,so dont leave him in the bowl too long.Theyre also sensitive to water params too. Much better with established tanks. Good luck-hope you figure out something soon! wink.gif

Would he be OK in the bowl for umm maybe a month? I know I need to get at least 1 more tank for my fry when they get a little bigger but I don't have the money with it being so close to xmas (I still need to come up with $ to buy my bro a present). So I was hoping when I get the bigger tank for the fry I could put him in the 2.5 gal then.

a little frog, how big is he, sir?
Black oranda
Raith- They get up to be about 2 inches long.

Silver- He should be okay in the bowl for now, give him something to hide under so his not so stressed and don't fill the bowl up to high, he needs some air aswell. ummmmm anyway good luck smile.gif

Right now mine is only around 1 inch. The bowl I have him in I have a little layer of gravel (barely covering the bottom) and a little plant. He/She likes to lay on top of it. I had the gravel in there to hold the plant down but it didn't work so its floating on the top but the frog doesn't seem to mind.

Thanks for the luck and all the help guys smile.gif

make sure you dont keep the frogs on a constant diet of blood worms, it clogg up there intestines and kill them, the same with freeze dried foods. blood worms are best as a once and a while treat.

I have 2 ADF (Gorffy and Zaddie). I feed them these little sticks that i break up so they sink, i got them at nooppee where I bought my frogs. I have read alot about feeding them blood worms but i havent ever got them. I have had Gorffy for about 5 months and his body is only about 3/4 inch long, I've had Zaddie for about 1 month and she is only about 1/2 inch long. they have about 3/4 inch of gravel on the bottom, 2 fake plants and one real plant. I didnt get anything that was really colorfull I got them brown shades of gravel and stuff so it would feel more like a pond. by the way where did you guys get your frogs and hoemuch did you pay for them? (mine are from nooppee and they were like $3.00
