wink.gif wink.gif sad.gif I a'm haveing a hard time getting info on how to tell the diff. between Goldfish and Koi. Can anyone tell me ??
I have started a new Pond and was told that two of the 5 fish I have are Goldfish.
The one I have that is 6 to 7 inches Is a Koi. But, I have 4 of the 4 to 5 inch and do not know if the other two are Koi or goldfish? A'm attaching a picture of the pond.

Can anyone help?

Simple way to tell is that koi have barbels(aka whiskers) and goldfish do not.

Like was said before the koi will have one whisker on either side of their mouth. If you do not see this than you probably have a common/comet goldie.

wink.gif Do Shubunkins have the barbels too or just the koi have them. I have got some fish this summer. I was told that they were all shubunkins, but some of them look different. could it be a Koi olny young. unsure.gif I have just started ponding this year and olny got my first pond in June. So the is so much I don't know, but what I do know is that I never know goldfish was so much fun. purpban.gif I have got rid of every thing, but the goldfish in and out of the house. B) not to mention the smilie faces I like to play with wav.gif

Only Koi have the barbels. If you go to the following it shows pictures of my pond, then of my Koi and then of my Oranda's with the Shubunkins along with some Comets.
