How can you tell if your goldfish is eggbound?
How do you treat it?
Athena
One of the things that I have read is that the goldfish's abdomen becomes swollen and hard and no scales are raised. Anyone else have any symptoms they can think of?
Athena
Also, they may be lethargic or be breathing rapidly or have loss of appetite. The swelling will only be in the abdomen region. Come on guys. Can you think of anything else?

Sorry but I can't find any sites on solving egg-bounds with MUCH info. Neither have I experienced it. But what I did find seems a bit risky to solve as based on this article.

Egg-Bound Goldfish
Add one handful of Epsom salts (found in the spice or baking sections of most grocery stores or sometimes in health and beauty care) per 20 gallons of water in the tank.

If this does not help you may remove your fish and try milking the fish VERY CAREFULLY THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR YOUR GOLD FISH. It will work ONLY THE LAST RESORT to SAVE your FISH.
