I have bought a pair of Ranchu 4 days ago and while in quarantine in seperate tank, the female goldie starts spawing hundreds of egg during the night. The next morning, I hand picked most of the eggs very carefully and transfered them in a 2 gal glass tank to see whether they will hatch. Surprisingly, it hatches after 2 days and today most of the eggs are already hatched. I am not sure why it hatches so fast but it could be the temperature in our area. The night temperature is about 25C and days is almost 30-31C.
I have no experience breeding goldies but fortunately this site has provided tons of information on goldfish. I cannot find any supplier selling brine shrimp and I think I can only feed them with egg yolk and grounded (very find powder) Tetra fish food (red in color). Will this be sifficient? Any suggestions appreciated. biggrin.gif

Brine shrimp EGGS can be ordered on-line where you'll need to hatch it urself. as for the food egg-yolf should be quite sufficient for about 2 to 2+1/2 weeks then I would feed them blood worms or misquito larvas. But check if the stores has FROZEN brine shrimp since they're quite common to have in a pet store and it's almost perfect in terms of price and nutrients. The tetra flakes are okay but soak em first since a fry that catches a serious swim bladder disorder can die much easier then a developed goldfish.
And also note that MANY places have fry fold in a powder or liquid form. I think that'll be more nutritious then the yolk method by a long shot containing fish meal most of the time.

I have no idea of how the products in malaysia are but if they have tetra brand food they should have hikari's fry food since I have not yet seen the two appart in a store yet head.gif how's that for competition

Thanks for the advise. I will try to get the liquid fry food but not sure whether it is available. Red worms are sold in frozen pack and I presume this will be OK to feed the frys when they are bigger. The red worms comes from China in packs of 10 in one blister pack.
