Hi leo, apple snails can generally live with goldies as long as they'er not very small(small enough to fit in their mouth)and somtimes goldies will nip their tentacles so just watch out for that, they will eat any fresh veggies you give them, exept the brig kind(the brigs will eat any fish food/algae wafers you have on hand)and I think they can live out of the water for a week, as long as they have a damp paper towel or somthing but I may be wrong on that. GOOD LUCK!!

hope I helped a little!!

I'm new to snails myself

so I'm still learning alot about them. I found applesnail.net a really good website for infromation on snails. I have 3 apple snails: Hubba, Bubba & Judus and I have 3 Rahmsorn snails. I havent come up with names for my Rahmsorn snails yet. Anyone with suggestions (????)

That's not fair Leo. Why is your pet shop going to take so long to get the snails. Is there any other lfs you could call to see if they have them in stock. March is too far away. They should really order some for you, that's what my lfs do. If I want something and they dont stock it or run out, they place an order for me

Leo I belong to applesnail.net if you go over there and make yourself a member and see how cheap you can get snails for and how wonderful they are looked after and bred you will never buy another snail in a LFS again unless its to give one a good home that you are rescuing ..are you in the US if so there are wonderful colours of snails and the sellers are top class and the way they ship them to you will amaze you..I am in the UK and got some from the US..so why wait for the LFS to charge you high prices hop over there and get yourself a new snail or three...LOL and trust me we always send more than you order..good luck Linda

How do pond snails kill apple snails?

I have ramshorns with my applesnails, are ramshorns considered pond snails?

ramshorns are pond snails.. but the pond snails ppl refer to are physa acuta.... there have been cases where the little physas will creep into the apple snails shell.. bite and kill the apple snail.. they will do this in packs too... which is scary!!! thoughi t doesnt always happen.... i guess it depdns if the apple snail has wandered into their "territory"

I just want to confirm this. Are these the snails that can kill applesnails:

I had two smaller dark snails in my tank. The shells looked like ramshorns but their bodies werent pinkish red like my ramshorn Oliver, they have grey bodies. I took them out thinking they may have been pond snails, but the shells are different to the one in the picture. Is it safe to put them back in with the apple snails?

i would guess it is just a different type of ramshorn...
and yes that is a picture of a physa acuta.. cute but nasty devils with apple snails lol

the evilness of the pond snails will breed until your GF are out of room!

Nov 30 2004, 05:20 PM
lol yes can be true.. but that heavily depends on how much food is available
equation being
more food= more snails
scary thought.. look into the tank and see only lil shells lol

These are up for grabs on applesnailsnail exchange dead cheap and lovely cared for snails..
Howdy folks,
I have decided that I would like to mainly focus on raising my canas and haustrums. I'm hanging on to my brig breeders, but won't be hatching out any more clutches from these guys and gals.
What I have left in my tanks are DSP babies (about dime size), blues (pea size to dime size) and jade (nickle size).
I'm looking to clear out ALL the brig babies I can, so I am letting them go for .25 cents each + the cost of shipping. AutumnAgain is first in line here for snails and as many brig clutches as she wants (I have 8 at the moment), but the rest are up for grabs! All have nice shells. Email or PM me if you're interested!
All my best,
Carrie
Hope that helps Linda
