I was wondering.. could i buy one stalk.. put it in the slot where my filter goes.. 2/3 submerge it and put the "roots" underneath the gravel (i will be leaning the bamboo on the side of the slot so it own't move)plus theres will be a fake rock and plastic plant straight infront of the stalk.. so i wont be abel to see it underwater and my fish wont be able to get in there and maybe eat the roots (he'll eat anything lol)
I want it cuz it gives tank a nice look from the top... cleans up algae and clears water in that case and its just nice all around.. would that work??? If they make new stalks..does it come branching off the original one?? could i then just cut off any new stalks and put them in vases aroudn the house??
Thanks you

im excited its been 5 days underwater and no rot... in fact the leaves became wider larger and new leaves are sprouting:D:D
I have one q tho..... you know where the roots grow out of... if i cut one of the section off will the plants grow new roots... just that the plant it too tall for my tank and i'd like to make it shorter.... is that possible??
Thanks

A friend of mine has lucky bamboo in her tanks. One day her son, while throwing toys into the tank, managed to break the bamboo into three pieces. One piece had roots and no leaves, one piece had leaves and no roots, and one piece had no roots or leaves (it was also badly damaged.) The one without leaves or roots was the only one that didn't survive.
I think it would be fine to cut off the root end, but leave it long so you can have another bamboo in your tank. Also, I would let the cut end dry well before putting it back in the tank. You could even keep them out of the tank and in jars of tank water until they start to show signs of growth.
Have fun with them. I'm getting some come payday!
