wav.gif I have been treating curly for ick with Nox-Ick for over a week. Today I am giving him a break. There has been no Ick on his body for 3 days, but on his tail is several white spots the size of a dull pencil point. His tail looks like it may be starting to shred. His tail has red streaks in it. Maybe I should change treatments? He has used Nox-Ick before with no problem. (this is his 4th time with ick. ill.gif ) All readings are great. I do a weekly water vaccume and change.
He is eating and seems fine otherwise. But the tail worries me. sad.gif

Please advise what to do....

if the spots you speak of on his tail are not ich, its most likely scar tissue. however, if they ae ich and you discontinued the meds (even for a day), they can make a very quick comeback. its best to treat til you see no sign of ich at all for 3-5 days straight.

as for the shredding, have you been testing your tankwater for ammonia and nitrItes? most, if not all ich medications can cause the bio-filter to stumble wich would allow the ammonia or nitrites to rise to toxic levels. these toxic levels may very well be whats causing the splitting or shredding.

post back soon. unsure.gif
