I already wrote a post about a rescue fish of mine who is suffering from pop-eye, but as I explained, the cause for the pop-eye is unknown. At first I began a treatment of macaryn two but was advised to do a .3% salt solution. Right now the bucket ia at .2%, and at 9:00 tonight, it will be at a .3%... I am doing a bucket to bucket treatment because my hospital tanks was not cycled, and I didn't want to add stress on the fish with rising ammonia, so I will be giving them fresh water at the right temp, ph and .3% salt as SOON as ammonia begins to rise.

Heres my question: When I came to my dad's house I found that he had a bottle of penicillin medication for fish..... He had bought it of the internet for his f ish pond he was gonna make and never did and the pills are still good, they haven't expired. The instructions says that it is for Infected eyes, fin or tail rot, skin ulcerations, POP-EYE, Columnaris disease, and Gill disease.

Can I use this in conjunction with the .3% salt solution?

I know that it's Ok to use the salt and prazi together but I would only use .1%.

A higher concentration of salt will only encourage fluid retention rather than relieve it.

Hmm, I'm not sure who advice you to use salt but Annette is right. High salt concentration would only cause more fluid retention. Epsom salt is generally used in cases of pop-eye and dropsy.

hmmmm. Now that I have the .3% in the tank, his eye is starting to go back into his head.... weird?

Also, when you say prazi, do you mean pennicillin?
