I got 3 longfinned danios a few days ago, and ever since they are in the tropicals tank, the peace is gone! Those 3 devels chase after each other constantly, and disrupt the other inhabitant's life in the process. I thought those danios were peaceful fish, or do they just take a while to calm down?
I don't want them to harm the two little tetra ? babies I found in the java moss....

The danios are probably breeding

Maybe that is the way they school? My long-finned danios always chase each other around in 1 big group, but they don't bother the other types of fishes.

I have kept danios for a few months and found them to be very cheeky. I had a school of seven and they run a muck in my tropical tank at the time. i didnt have fish with long flowing fins as i heard danios can be fins nippers, so they didnt harm the other fish at all, just annoyed them. My danios would even steal the blood worms from the mouths of my gouramis at feeding time . The gouramis didnt know what hit them as danios are like fast little torpedos. It was very funny to watch

Last week I put 6 zebra danios, along with 6 white cloud mountain minnows in my 20 gallon tank to keep it cycled.

I haven't kept zebras in many years, and I was amazed at how wild they are. They constantly race around the tank chasing each other. It all seems very harmless, however, I can see how it would be disruptive if you had a community of quiet, peaceful fish.

My first guess is that either "reschooling" or breeding....

Danios are very peaceful fish, but hyperactive. I'll never own any again, it gives me a headache watching them constantly zipping around. Almost everyone I've talked to says the same thing.

White Clouds are type of danio, but somewhat calmer. But the regular ones, the longfins and blue ones all seem to be on a sugar high all the time. Don't expect them to settle down

Oh, thats just grand! My black skirt tetras don't appreciate that much, thats for sure! Maybe if I give them food until they pop, they calm down a bit while digesting.....A little bit like us after a heavy meal...nap time!

Nah, that just makes them spawn and then you'll have more crazy zipping all over the place danios!! LOL...

I had pearl danios once, very pretty but drove me nuts. They always spawned right after eating. Eventually gave them away to a breeder when I moved.
