The best answer would be no. Though in very rare occasions it is possible.

The answer is no.
I used to have a divider in my 20g tank to separate my goldfish from my betta. One time, when i was cleaning the tank, i accidentaly "nudged" the divider and my betta went straight for my goldfish! Luckily i had a net with me or else my goldfish would have been dead.

IMO I would say no, I personaly find that the betta would do better alone.

I would have to agree with no. Bettas and gf require different things, such as water temp. Bettas need a warmer temp than gf. Also gf can get over zealous in looking for food and innocently nibble at the long betta fins.
I wouldn't put them together, some have, but I wouldn't.
