I never saw that, Hamstaman. Is that some sort of fertilizer?

Never heard of it personally. AP usually has decent products though.
I use Yamato Green (have to order it through the mail) because its safe for inverts and I have lots of shrimp and snails. The most popular fertilizer I'd say is the flourish line though. Commonly found in most stores.

Hamstaman, thats what I found on the Aquarium Pharm. website about Leaf Zone...
"Aquarium plants require sufficient amounts of iron and potassium to produce lush, green leaves. In a planted aquarium, however, iron quickly becomes depleted, resulting in yellow decaying leaves and poor growth. Potassium is required by aquatic plants for photosynthesis and maintaining cell pressure. Leaf Zone is a liquid fertilizer containing a special formula of chelated iron and potassium. Leaf Zone is readily absorbed through the leaves, supplying plants with these essential nutrients. Regular use of Leaf Zone keeps aquarium plants lush and colorful. Leaf Zone adds elements necessary to maintain the planted aquarium with vigorous growth. Add one teaspoon of Leaf Zone weekly for every 10 gallons of aquarium water"
I would generally be careful with fertilizer (and other things like salt) if you have snails and scaleless fish in there, but if its just for the plants and with goldfish in it, it sounds fine to me. There isn't a warning on the bottle not to use it with snails, though...

do apnongetons, water wisteria and java moss rely heavily on this stuff then for their leaves??? i just have 1 betta in a 10 g tank of plants... if those plants would do good with this Leaf Zone i will have to plan a trip to petsmart lol
what do you think, do those 3 plants need what leaf zone has to offer??
Thanks

In a lot of cases with plants, it depends on your lighting. If our lighting is pretty low, they won't really be photosynthesising fast enough to really need extra fertilizer. If its higher, they'll need it.
I've never really needed fertilizer for apons and java fern, but I think the wisteria might like it. You could wait and see if leaves start turning brown, or get the fertilizer now.

How much light of what color spectrum do you have over the tank?

its called Plant Grow and it gives the tank 1.4 watts per gallon... Leaf Zone has iron and potassium in itr.. and i know wisteria love iron so i should get it right???

If you decide to use it, I would go easy with it at the beginning, just to be sure you don't cause an algae bloom. I would use a half dose to start off, and see how things go, since both java fern and the aponogeton are probably fairly slow fert users.

I'd agree, that's pretty low light and if you do dose, do it lightly. How is the wisteria doing? I thought it liked more light than that.

actually it was doing great... emphasis on was.. it just needs low/medium light but for some reason (well actually its my fault that i didnt notice) is all the wisteria got uprooted (i know my betta couldnt do that

) but it all went black and mushy.. theres a few green leaves, like 5 and 2, 5 cm stems.. i planted them all in the gravel and hope they do grow:S.... do you think they will???
My Banana Plant is growing in there for some reason.. same with my hornwort.. i thot they needed alot of light and special care and yet they are growing with no care whatsoever lool odd..
I have a q bout my java moss.. i've had it for a week and it still looks clumpy and ugly annnnnnnnnnd it hasnt gripped itself onto the river rocks

its frustrating. any1 know why??
Thanks

When I used Leaf Zone in my 10g heavily planted tank I got a HUGE algea bloom! I would agree to go slowly with it!
I too resently added Java Moss to one of my tanks (2 weeks) and it has not rooted but I didn't know that it was suppost to! lol

Java moss will attach itself to the gravel if you stick it into the gravel just a little bit.

If you have a lot of water movement you may never really get java moss to stay in one place. Your best bet is to tie it to a rock using cotton thread or fishing line. I have a bunch of it, and generally I just shove it in a corner and try to keep it there. Its not really a controllable plant unless it has something it can attach to like wood. Mine has never really attached to the gravel and its been there for years.

I have some that's attached to a clay pot.

I have mine in the corner of my planted tank, and when I try to pull it up, it always comes up with gravel stuck onto the bottom of it. It really is a very versatile plant, isn't it?
