Hi,

In my 44g tank, I have 3 young fish: 1 black moor, 1 fantail, and 1 red cap oranda. Right now I feed them Nutra Fin Max floating pellets. Is this a complete food? Or should I feed them s'thing else for max health & development? I heard s'thing about peas, but dunno how this goes.

Pls help? I want my fish to be big & plump & health & grow big wens (for those who can wink.gif )

Thanks

A lot of people on here recommend varying the diet. Have you also tried veggies or fruits? Such as blanched lettuce, peeled peas, steamed carrots, sliced cucumber, sliced oranges, strawberries, etc! Just keep trying out different things to see what yours will like... Then you can use those as a midday or evening snack smile.gif

Hi,
What is recommended is sinking pellets that are soaked for a few minutes in some tank water. I ordered Progold from Goldfish Connection. It is supposed to be the best food for goldfish. And the sinking pellets keeps them from swallowing air that could cause swim bladder disorders.

My fish just love them. I use a small bowl, put some tank water in it, a pinch of pellets, let it sit for a few minutes and the pour it in the tank. They dive down and have a feast. I feed them twice a day.

About once a week, I take a frozen pea, take the skin off and cut it into about 8 pieces and drop them one at time into the tank.

I have some freeze dried blood worms that I also soak and feed occasionally. I haven't tried other veggies or fruit.

My fish have doubled in size and I bought them on July 4th of this year.

Its good to give them a variety. I give them floating pellets (which i soak and squish so they sink) Mon, Wed, Thurs, sat twice a day. On Tues and fri i give them freeze dryed blood wurms (which i hand feed cause they don sink) twice a day. On sunday they get regular food in the morning and peas at night. Once a mounth i will feed them some kind of fruit, as a lil treat also ). I also feed 2 algea discs once a day, for my hillstream loaches. I hide one under a rock for the loaches, and another i just throw in and most of the time the goldfish get to that before the loaches (.
