do fancy goldfish eat the 2nd stage mosquito larvae? (with the armoured head kind of thingy?) are they also fast enough to eat the just-born larvae?

Depends. My smaller ryunkin and oranda can see well enough to eat them. The moors eyesight isn't good enough to count on them to find the larvae.
