if you dont want a krib or you find it too expensive then you could try a keyhole cichlid or acara, but the acara grows a bit bigger. you wont be able to keep two species in the same size tank as you have. id go safe and pick just one.
hope some one else has a clue as to what you can get that is peaceful in a community. oh, just thought of another . you could try a ram, i think you can get blue, gold and bolivian.

Rams are very colorful and one of the more peaceful and small cichlids, you could probably do one in a 15 gallon. Or you could look at Shell Dwellers (but those need shells and like sand substrate). Shell dwellers are often more dull colors but their breeding and socializing is quite interesting, you could easily have a pair in a 15 gallon.
There is also Apistogrammas, they stay small and come in lots and lots of colors, some extremely beautiful. But you don't find the really pretty ones locally very often. They do like softer water I believe, but its not necessary unless you are trying to breed.
Stay away from Electric yellows, yellow labs, firemouths, etc, etc... and keep in mind that any cichlid is going to be somewhat agressive.

Here, there are some decent pictures and profiles for various fish on this site:
http://www.aquatic-hobbyist.com/freshindex.htmlThe kribs and shell dwellers are under I believe african and the rams etc are under american cichlids (though I may have that backwards)...
