My goldfish recently picked up a case of Ick, and I have to try the salt treatment on them, but I also have a guppy in the tank. I rescued this guppy from an evil school project when he was near death. I don't know if the salt will affect the guppy in any way. I've only had him for a month, and I don't want him to die already. :crp Should I isolate him, or can he handle the salt? Can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks!

i think it's safer to isolate the guppy because usually when you treat for ich you should only treat the infected fish..sum1 else might be able to give you more advice
Kev
it wont put him at anymore risk than being in with the goldies, in fact, guppies like a little salt smile.gif

Thanks, peoples, we're salting them now. I hope they're cured, I get upset when these things happen. unsure.gif My new fish was stressed because that evil pet store lady squished him against the glass whilst trying to get him into the net. Then he stressed out the other fish, and that stressed out me. Then they became infected with Ick. Evil pet store lady.
Thanks again,
Kameira
P.S. I want revenge on that pet store lady.
Kev
Next time your in there squish her against the glass biggrin.gif

lol.GIF That's exactly what I wanted to do when I saw her squishing my fish. I felt like pounding on her head.
Anyway, the ich's all gone now, but just you wait. It'll come back. It always does, and I have this feeling that there's going to be more suffering and mortality around the house. unsure.gif The hardest part about fishkeeping is starting.
Once again, thanks for the help.
P.S. I think that pet store lady's hiding somewhere, because I never saw her again after the squished fish incident. I have this weird compulsion to laugh every time I imagine squeezing the pet store lady against a window with a large net. rofl3.gif

lucky you! mines still getting worse!!! ill update you again tomorrow. trns out my mum ran out of salt when she was treating and it was more like .25% rather than .3% so the ich are still floating about. leave the salt in the system for 14 days and then you should be cured biggrin.gif

yaaaaaay! its all gone now. not a single spot left. still keeping the salt in the system for another week. biggrin.gif im so happy there werent any fatalities this time! hows yours doing, hun?

Unfortunately, one of my goldfish has been attacking my other one, so we had to isolate him and treat the tank AND a fish bowl. :crp Now one of my goldfish is depressed and the other has its fins ripped off. These fish are being a heap of trouble. rolleyes.gif Oh well, once I get the ball rolling, I'm sure there won't be any fishkeeping problems. And the ick hasn't come back... hopefully... *knock on wood*
