I've been reading koko's page on different foods and see that you can give them oranges and grapes. Does anyone else feed them other kinds of fruit. I haven't fed mine any fruit yet. I was wondering if apples would be okay if they were peeled, blanched in hot water and cut in small pieces? What about small pieces of bannana?

I usually feed kiwi. high in vitamin C and lower in sugar than oranges.

Okay, I'll try the kiwi. Do I have to do anything other than peel and cut small? Blanch it or anything?

Kiwi is great, I also just place a slice of banana in there, and they love chasing it around the tank!. (WARNING: save it as a treat right before a water change, it's messy) or you can mash a little banana onto your finger and hand feed them.
I tried a lemon slice the other day, and they really enjoyed it!
I don't feed fruit very often because of the sugar content though.

For my 4 goldies, I just cut off a slice, peel, slice into bite sized pieces and dump it in the tank.
Robin. yea, I read somewhere that goldies and carp don't handle simple sugars well and get hyperglycenic.

Dataguru, I am hyperglycemic myself, so I guess I was worried for my fishies too.
Has anyone ever tried peaches?
