yes bo the orange one is stunning. my pic doesnt do him justice. he is mostly orange and has a white flash down his side, but when he turns it looks lilac. im thinking about breeding from him too.

Looking at your pictures today is the first time I've ever felt like getting into tropicals. I have a spare 10g.
Did you plant the tank first then add the fish?
What are easy starting fish?
sandy
Nov 1 2004, 06:26 AM

hi fishmerised
glad you like my tank.
for a 10 gallon, the principle is the same as gf, all you need is a higher temperature and tropical food.
its best to get everything in to your tank including the live plants before you add the fish. it will need to cycle as well.
as for fish the choice is yours. its an inch per gallon normally, so you would need to find out the adult length before putting in. ideal beginners are zebra danios, pencilfish, a couple of cories for the bottom and really most tetras, but i would avoid neons until your tank is well established. these fish reach approximately two inches when fully grown.
for the plants i add a plant fertilizer. if you need any more help please feel free to ask, i dont mind.
sandy
Nov 1 2004, 07:04 AM
forgot to add.
if you want tetras then they need to be kept in small groups. you could try 3 lemon tetras, 3 phantom tetras but i think that would be your limit. when i had tropicals in my 16 uk gallon tank i had 4 wcmm, 4 pencilfish, 4 neons, and a hillstream loach.

I just mentioned on another thread, that I really don't come into the tropical section very often-even though I've always had tropical tanks all my life, and still have a couple going. I wanted to comment on how great your pics/fish /tank is. The mixture of real and not look very nice. I also like alot of your choices of fish. I myself thought about trying kribs out,but ended up not. They've always seemed like very cool fish. I have a half dozen of Angels who I love, and I haven't seen a pleco that I haven't liked yet!

Nice job!
sandy
Nov 9 2004, 07:53 AM

thanks for that devs, thats really nice of you to say. my favourite tropical is the angel, black veiltails to be precise. i have bred black angels in the past and hopefully will do so again. any chance of seeing your tropicals now you have a swish new camera??

I also have a black veil, acouple marbles,a koi,and two that I'm not sure about. LOL! The black veils would have to be my favs too.As for taking pics,hahaha--that tank is always very sparse because of the crazy pleco,so I think I'll have to do some major redecorating before that happens.

Wow Just Lovely Sharon!, lol for some reason when i get a 20 gallon tropical tank started i think i might try angels.
You could keep that many in a tank? i thouhgt these fish were agressive..???
Devs
Nov 9 2004, 04:35 PM

Alex, they can be and normally are very aggressive. I got all these guys when they were the size of a dime, with the intentions of breeding them out.I had this many in the tank to try and find a pair. I have two other tanks that eventually they will get split up into.Right now, they have their own little territories, and believe me-when someone invades their space they will nip,and lock lips.Lucky for me,that doesn't happen too much!

This is a better picof angels unfortunately,I was in the middle of a water change, and rearranging so half of the plants were sitting in a bucket right next to me!

the pics are great devs. are your angels full grown and have they bred yet. i have bred black angel with a female marble. i would love to breed them again but will have to save the pennies to get a deep tank.
Devs
Nov 9 2004, 05:07 PM

No,not full grown by far yet. I'm starting to think that I may actually have a pair, and if thats the case then those two will go into a 30 gal.high that I have. How big did your biggest ones get? The hospital at work has angels in a atank, and they're HUGE!!!
sandy
Nov 9 2004, 05:23 PM
my pair werent that big before they spawned , only about 4 inches tall, not including the fins. hope you get a pair devs its really fascinating watching them rear the babies. good luck.
