Ok. I have a black moor & a red cap oranda both are about 3" long. The oranda appears to be a-o-k. But the black moor is floating at the top of the tank. He's not gasping for air, he's breathing sorta slower that usual but he's moving his fins as though he's swimming. Also, around his mouth, it looks whiter than the rest of his body. He can swim to the bottom effortlessly & he'll swim around if he sees me come up to the tank. He's been like this for the past 2 days. I thought that maybe he had flukes so I did one treatment for that yesterday. I also gave him peas this morning. So, what's the deal? I don't think he's constipated. The oxygen level is good, because I leave the tank open so air can get in. I just don't know.

Ammonia Level = 0ppm

Nitrite Level = 0ppm

Nitrate level = 0-5ppm

Ph Level? = about 7.4ppm

Ph Level out of the Tap = ?

Tank size = 5 gal.

How long has it been running = about 2 1/2 - 3 months

What kind of Filtration = Eclipse, black diamond premium activated carbon

How often do you change the water and how much = every week, at least 20%

What kind of Water additives or conditioners = Stress Coat & Stress Zyme

Any Medications add to the tank = Anti-Fluke

Add any new fish to the tank = no

What do you feed your fish = peas, Bio-gold, Total Goldfish, blood worms, krill, Wardley Goldfish floating pellets, Wardley Goldfish slow sinking crumbles. I ALWAYS soak the food before I put it in the tank.

Greetings and welcome to the board! welcometo.jpg

With the oxygen level, do you have a air pump running a
air stone or bubble wand? What that does is create surface
agitation, allowing the water to absorb oxygen particles. By
having the top open may not be doing enough. sad.gif

On the floating, is he upside down or floating the normal way?

Yay! Thanks for the welcome!

I don't have any air pump or wand... I guess I should look into that.

He floats the normal way. It only seems to be in the afternoon. There is a heater in the room. Is there anyway that could be affecting him?

Generally when the temp of the water goes up, the O2 level
starts to drop. So, you need to increase the amount of O2
going into the tank. Do you know what your tank temp is at?
And does it go up and down or stay at a constant temp?
