When fin rot strikes!!

Last week, I noticed that Montgomery had lost some more of his poor tail. He seems pretty happy and even more energetic without it (if that's even possible) , to tell you the truth, and it's limited to his caudal fin, but I'm not just going to leave it.

I decided to put him on Bettamax over the Melafix, because the Bettamax seemed like the easier of the two to use. This is his second day on it. He's taking it in stride, while I'm crossing my fingers. wink.gif

Not another one! I think Jen(Fisharenewtome) said it best. The title of her last post "here a rot, there a rot, everywhere a rot, rot".

Sorry to hear, and I wish you luck with him. What is he in? Is it heated?

I know, huh? It finrot really seems to be an epidemic here, lately.

He's in a 5.5 gallon, and yeppers, it's heated and the temperature is pretty steady at about 75 degrees. I've tried higher temperatures with him, but he seems to get less energetic at temperatures above 78 and thrives in the mid to low 70s. Go figure.
Anyhow, besides losing a bit of tail, he's in excellent condition.

Thanks for the luck. Flowers.gif
